Counselling

What to expect in counselling?

It is important that you complete the Intake Form and the Consent Form prior to the first session. The first session would be the opportunity for you to tell me what brings you to counselling and what do you hope to achieve or change?

  • In counselling, outcome or results are not expected to be immediate and will depend on our collaborative efforts and your commitment to the counselling process and the action/treatment plan.
  • Each counselling session is confidential, and the limitations stated in the consent form comply with the laws of Hong Kong.
  • There is a difference between counselling and advising. Giving advice is deciding what is best for you.  Counselling empowers you to explore and decide what is best for you.  It is an opportunity for you to re-new trust and confidence in yourself to follow your own path forward.

How effective and secured is Online Counselling?

Online counselling utilises the power and embraces the convenience of the internet for communication between the client and the counsellor and allows for ongoing communication to take place in different locations and time zones.  Studies have reported online counselling to be effective, convenient, and well-accepted.

Zen Counselling use a secured and encrypted communication and practice management platform that was designed specifically for counsellors, therapists, social workers, and psychologists
(https://theranest.com/hipaa-compliant-video-conferencing/).

Please note that given the location and distance flexibility of online counselling, it is not suitable for situations where your immediate personal safety is at risk, self-harm/suicide or issues relating to violent relationships, sexual violence, or abuse against children. If you are in or know of such situations, please get immediate help Here.

If you are not located in Hong Kong,
please use the helplines available in your respective locations.
